FSI Announces a Production Delay at the New Taber, Alberta Facility
VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, July 21, 2010 – FLEXIBLE SOLUTIONS INTERNATIONAL, INC. (AMEX: FSI, FRANKFURT: FXT), is the developer and manufacturer of biodegradable and environmentally safe water and energy conservation technologies, as well as oil field anti-scalant technology, and detergent and agricultural products. Today the Company announces a production delay from the new aspartic acid facility in Taber, Alberta.
FSI announces that aspartic acid production from the Taber plant in Alberta will be delayed by 3 to 5 months. This will not affect normal business and organic growth in our NanoChem division which uses aspartic acid to produce polyaspartic acid [TPA]. However, it will slow down our planned introduction of bio-sourced TPA and the major growth that the new product promises.
Mr. Dan O’Brien comments, “We are pioneering a new biologic chemistry process and did not foresee that the final stage of scale-up to commercial production would require one additional piece of equipment to maximize production efficiency. The equipment has been ordered and will arrive in 8 weeks. Installation and inspection will take additional weeks, followed by several batch runs to confirm that it functions as designed. Even with this delay, as a result of several successful production runs from existing equipment, we expect to be able to announce commercial production in fourth quarter 2010.”
